Valley Comfort Heating and Air offers complete HVAC systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services to our customers. These are the three main functions of any home comfort system. A complete home comfort system controls your home’s fresh air intake, humidity, and indoor air temperature as it maintains the quality of air in your home.

The task of a central cooling and heating system is to produce cool or warm air in one central area and then distribute this air throughout your home. There are various types of systems in use within Sonoma County for HVAC purposes. For example, these include traditional split systems, so named because they have both outdoor and indoor components, alongside packaged product systems that have one unified component outdoors for both cooling and heating.

HVAC systems account for more than half the energy used in the typical American home. An efficient heating and cooling system can actually save you money while keeping your home’s environment comfortable for you and your family. Not only do they help you reduce your energy costs, but by reducing the energy consumption of your Sonoma County air conditioner, you leave a smaller carbon footprint.

Know Your California Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Efficiency Ratings

Typical central heating and air conditioning product systems include heat pumps and air conditioners. The higher the SEER and HSPF ratings of your Sonoma County HVAC systems, the more cost savings you realize from their use. U.S. Regulatory agencies have minimum efficiency standards required on all new heating and air conditioning systems manufactured in the United States today. With all of these ratings, the higher the values, the more energy-efficient the system is, and the more money you will save on energy costs when operating it.

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the rating on air conditioners, and the minimum SEER must be 13.0. At Valley Comfort, the Bryant systems we sell and install all have SEERS ranging from 13.0 to 21. HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) rates the efficiency of heat pumps, with the minimum standard set at 6.8 and ranging to 9.5. AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) is the standard measurement of the efficiency of gas-fired boilers and furnaces. These range from 76 percent to more than 96 percent.

Replace Inefficient HVAC Systems

Suppose you currently have an older 60 percent model. In that case, you could instantly begin saving 40 percent annually on your energy bills by switching out and installing one of the newer, high-efficiency furnaces. If your current Sonoma County HVAC system of any kind is more than ten years old, you might consider upgrading to a high-efficiency unit. You will offset the cost of installation in the first few years with the savings you will receive on your energy bill. If your unit needs repairs, and the bill approaches 50 percent of the value of the cost of replacement, it would be wise to invest in a new high-efficiency system instead.
